The Penticton Vees Hockey Club congratulates former Vee Beau Bennett on his contract signing with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Bennett, 20, was drafted in the first round; 20th overall by the Penguins in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Bennett inked a three-year entry-level contract which begins in the 2012-2013 season.
The Gardena, California native played one season with the Vees in 2009-2010, where he was named the Interior Conference Rookie of the Year. Bennett also tied the BCHL scoring title with 120 points; a point total hasn’t been equaled since.
Most recently, Bennett spent two seasons at the University of Denver with the Pioneers in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. In 45 career games, Bennett amassed 38 points (13-25-38); unfortunately his sophomore season was cut short to 10 games due to a wrist injury. In his freshman season, Bennett collected nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points in 37 games.
