Vees Captain Player of the Week

Local boy and Vees Captain, Logan Johnston was named the BCHL Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Last Wednesday, the 20 year-old led the Vees to their second Fred Page Cup in the past five years, with a 3-2 win in game four over Powell River.

The line of Johnston-Reilly-Loik had a strong game four, each of the three picking up points including Reilly and Loik each scoring; Loik the eventually game-winner in the second period.

Penticton Vees forward and captain Logan Johnston is the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 15, the league announced on Monday.

Johnston was one of just three players  to have a multiple-point game in either Game 3 or 4 (Cohen Adair and Joey Benik were the others).

He assisted on the Vees first goal in their comeback win in Game 3 and then set up two others, including the game-winner, in Game 4 as the Vees closed out the Powell River Kings in four games to win the Fred Page Cup.

The 6-foot-1, 208-pound Penticton native has recorded four goals and four assists in 15 BCHL playoff games.

Honourable mentions this week go to Powell River Kings forward Cohen Adair (three goals, one assist, 1st Star, 2nd Star), Vees forward Curtis Loik (one GWG, one assist), Kings defenceman Craig Dalrymple (two assists), Vees forward Wade Murphy (two goals, one OT GWG) and Vees defenceman Nick Buchanan (one goal).
