Benik Bests Bandits; Named POW

Joey Benik’s stellar game five performance against the Brooks Bandits has earned him BCHL Player of the Week honours.

BCHL Press Release:

“Penticton Vees forward Joey Benik has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 29, the league announced on Monday.

Benik was in on five of the Vees’ six goals in the Doyle Cup-clinching 6-2 win Friday night. The Andover, Minn. native scored a hat trick, which included the game-winner, and set up two others. In Game 4, he broke the ice after a scoreless first and also had one assist.

After a slow start, Benik wound up tied for the series lead in points with five goals and three assists in five games.

Honourable mentions this week go to Vees defenceman Mike Reilly (one goal, four assists, 2nd Star), forward Steven Fogarty (two goals, two assists, 2nd Star) and forward Travis St. Denis (one goal, four assists, 3rd Star).”
