WJAC Update: TCW 2-0; Stoyk Interview

(A big thank you to Jason LaRose from Hockey Canada for lining up the interview with Paul Stoykewych and passing along a couple of pictures as well.)

Team Canada West earned themselves a bye into one of Friday’s Semi-Finals of the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge today, with a 4-1 win over the Czech Republic in Group B action. Vees defenseman Paul Stoykewych has yet to pick up a point, but as he points out in the interview above, he’s not there to score goals, rather  prevent them.

Hockey Canada has done a great job with the WJAC website, providing in-depth in-game summaries, scoring plays and statistics. Every game right into the Semi-Finals is FREE to watch on Fasthockey; the gold medal game will air live on TSN.

Stoykewych and Canada West are now off until Friday and will have to wait and see who their opponent will be. Canada East dropped their opener yesterday, 6-2 to the Russians and play the United States tomorrow; tonight the Americans face-off against the Russians.
