Vees Story

Brendan Lamont Interview

Today the Vees added depth to their forward core with the acquisition of veteran Brendan Lamont from the Trail Smoke Eaters. The moves comes as the team  placed Josh Blanchard on the 60-Day IR after he suffered a lower-body injury on the weekend. The Vees keeps the Vees roster at a full complement of forwards going into this weekend.

Lamont, 19, spent two seasons in Merritt before he was traded to Trail this past summer. When I spoke to former Trail bench boss Bill Birks earlier this season about Lamont, he had nothing but good things to say about the forward. Birks went as far to say he (Lamont) was a player that he wanted on his team for quite some time. Lamont brings plenty of speed to the Vees fold, along with experience and grit. He practiced alongside Cody DePourcq and Travis Blanleil today but it remains to be seen if that will be a trio come Friday.

I grew to like Lamont during his time in Merritt, as he mentions above, the Vees and Cents’ had a great rivalry-still do. During his time in Merritt, Lamont was an absolute pain to play against; a pest. He’s quick on the fore-check and like Blanleil and DePourcq relentless puck pursuer. He’ll bring plenty of energy to the line-up and might be a guy that will play against the other teams top-line; maybe some PK? He’ll wear number 14 and makes his debut in West Kelowna on Friday.
