Losing a Family Member

The Penticton Vees organization lost a member of its family over the weekend. After a very courageous battle with cancer, team Chaplain Jamie Weberg passed away on Sunday.

Jamie was the team’s Chaplain for the past four years and touched so many people in the organization and in the community

Jamie was a truly inspirational personal who had so much love and compassion for those he interacted with. On behalf of the team, I would like to send our condolences to the Weberg family.

Jamie will always be with us.

Even though we knew from the outset that Jamie’s illness was terminal, it is with such profound sadness that we accept that that day has now come. Far too soon, & with such a young wife & young children having a loss to cope with that no family should have to bear. With each tribute appearing on Twitter, fresh tears form as I realize just how special & inspirational this young man was to the team members, current & former, & coaching staff. Jamie, ever supportive & proud, was always there to encourage & guide; there to share the Vees’ joy. Even as he suffered himself. I gathererd Jamie to pose with Dave Bast. (The team had arrived home on their bus.) He said, ‘You want ME in a picture?’ I said, ‘of course I do, you’re so much a part of this!’ And so it was… Jamie. Loved/Remembered.
